This weekend, take the extra day off to do something special. Whether you want to do dinner with friends, check out a play, or make time for an event you wouldn't normally go to, we have you covered.
Hear
On Friday, combine two of the greatest things in life: San Antonio tacos and literature. Gemini Ink will be hosting a free reading with three authors at Viva Tacoland from 6:30-10 PM--perfect for date night or dinner with friends. Listen to Anthony the Poet, Viktoria Valenzuela, Edward Vidaurre, but stick around until the end for your turn at the open mic. Free.
See
For more literature, get tickets for The House on Mango Street, performed as a play by the Classic Theater. Whether you missed the show's run last fall or if you just love the book, this weekend is your last chance to see this play. The theater will be putting on performances on Friday and Saturday night at 8:00 PM. $10-15.
Do
On Saturday morning, head to the Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort and Spa for Yoga with a View. The event is free and starts at 9 AM. You can stop by the spa afterwards or just enjoy the chance for a free outdoor class in nature.
Explore
Turkish culture will be on full display at the Turkish Festival on Saturday. From 10 AM-7 PM, stop by Alamo Plaza and check out performances, art, and food. This event is sponsored by the Raindrop Foundation. Free.
Learn
Discover Diego Rivera's world and the impact he had with the Esperanza Peace and Justice Center on Saturday at 8 PM. The event will have live music from Aaron Prado, George Prado, and Nina Rodriguez and will explore Mexican surrealism, identity, murals, and revolution. $7.
